A Chinchilla’s fur is so dense that fleas and parasites cannot survive inside it!
- 80 Hairs Per Follicle: Human hair follicles produce 1 hair. A Chinchilla produces 50 to 80 silky hairs per single follicle!
- No Water Baths: Because their fur is so dense, getting wet traps water near the skin, causing mold. Instead, Chinchillas bathe in volcanic pumice dust! Watching a Chinchilla spin and roll inside a dust bowl is one of the most delightful sights in the pet world.
